Rhode Island Authors Showcase - Featuring Jane McCarthy!

The Rhode Island Authors Showcase is back! Each day in November, I’ll be featuring a different RI author. Each post features a giveaway – a book, an anthology, or something else! All you have to do to be eligible for the daily drawing is leave a comment on the blog post. I’ll use a random number generator to pick a winner one week after the blog post (to give you time to catch up).

By commenting on each post, you’re also entered to win our bigger prizes: GRAND PRIZE is a $250 Amazon gift card, BONUS PRIZE is a $100 Amazon gift card, and the CHEER UP YOU WON SOMETHING PRIZE is a $50 Amazon gift card. The big prizes will be chosen, again using a random number generator, on December 7.

Author Jane McCarfthy

Jane McCarthy lives in Narragansett, Rhode Island. Her new novel, The Faces of War, is historical fiction and was published in 2022. It is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, at Wakefield Books in the Wakefield Mall and Rarities Bookstore in Wakefield. It takes place during WWII and follows the stories of John Conway, a young American, and Karl Baum, a young German, and their journey throughout the war.

I am particularly fond of the authors James Michener. John Jakes, and Barbara Taylor Bradford, all of whom are master storytellers, rich with plot, characters, and place,

It is my hope is to engage readers to keep turning the pages and feel inspired when a book ends.

The biggest challenge in writing for me is finding good characters to tell my story and writing good narrative. I draw my inspiration from other authors and I am an avid reader of fiction.

The Faces of War is a WWII historical fiction page-turner which explores the horrors of war and brings a rare perspective as seen through the eyes of an American GI and a young German civilian. It takes place from 1941-1946, when war swept through Europe, killing civilians and destroying cities and towns. It left grief and devastation it its wake. It’s the story of courage, betrayal, guilt, drug addiction, and forgiveness.

Jane is giving away a copy of her new novel, The Faces of War. If you're a fan of historical fiction, you'll want to add this one to your pile! Just leave a comment below and tell us what period of time you'd choose to live in, if you had the ability to time-travel.
