Journey to 10K: Adventures of an Older Novice Runner
In 2012, I celebrated my 60th birthday by running a 5K for the first time in my life. Never an athlete, I followed the Josh Clark Couch to 5K® designed especially for beginners. Journey to 10K: Adventures of an Older Novice Runner, my first book, is the story of how I achieved my dream. Written as I went along, it illustrates the successes and failures, good and bad runs, and discouragement and elation that I experienced.
I wrote this book to encourage others who embark on similar journeys. With desire and determination, anyone in good health can succeed in achieving their running goals.

Connie Ross Ciampanelli is a writer from North Providence, Rhode Island. She earned her B.A. in Liberal Arts, majoring in English, from Rhode Island College. She has been married for 43 years to Anthony Ciampanelli and is the mother of two grown sons and grandmother of two. Connie worked for 14 years at La Salle Academy in Providence and is now happily retired.
In addition to writing, Connie is a voracious reader. She enjoys cooking and baking. For nearly 40 years she has been an enthusiastic needle-worker, specializing in sampler reproduction. She has an abiding passion for animals. At this time, Connie and Tony have two cats of their own, Mercedes and Nelle, and all the Ciampanellis’ cats that have crossed the rainbow bridge were rescues.
Connie’s first book, Journey to 10K: Adventures of an Older Novice Runner, is the story of her starting to run at age 59 through completing a half marathon to celebrate her 63rd birthday.
In 2008, a black male feral cat appeared at Connie's back door. Surviving the odds, he was to return many times over the course of nearly 12 years and gained a large internet fan base. Tony and Connie named him Bartholomew Thomas Katt. Connie's second book, Bart the Mysterious: A True Story, is about those 12 miraculous years. It is expected to be released in 2020.
