RI Authors Showcase and Giveaway! Meet Alexander Smith

Each day this month, meet a Rhode Island author! Comment on the blog post for a chance to win our Grand Prize (a $200 Amazon gift card) or our Bonus Prize (a $100 Amazon gift card). What if a man dedicated his entire life to perfection? What if the state administered a personality test to identify the next school shooter? What if a celebrity got ousted for having supernatural powers? What if a lottery winner died alone holding the winning ticket?

Discover answers to these questions and more within the pages of these seven tantalizing short stories of the supernatural – including one heart-pounding ghost story and another that will bring a smile to your face.

The title story follows the quest of an unnamed hero who decides that the only goal worthy of his lifelong dedication is the pursuit of his perfection. Through a series of actions that align with the awakening of his seven Chakras, he unlocks new levels within himself on his journey to ascension. In the process, he does greater good in the world and learns about what it means to lead a good life. Will he achieve his goal of perfection or does his worst fear – a life wasted – come to pass?

Alexander has generously offered to gift a copy of A Perfect Man and Other Stories of the Supernatural to one lucky winner. Just comment on this blog post and you're entered, plus you have another entry in the Grand Prize and Bonus Prize drawings.

Since he was a teen, Alexander Smith has been a writer. He has written poems and short stories. After years working in the field of real estate, he quit to focus on his writing. He found more jobs than he could take as a copywriter, wrote websites for dozens of businesses across the country. Then, he was hired to write hundreds of blogs for other small business. Alexander will say that the coolest job he had at the time was writing storytelling emails for a German stock photography guru with a list of more than 10,000 people.

His writing led him to an exciting opportunity to write for a content website that gets 20-25 million unique viewers per month. He still creates their content and has written thousands of web pages for them throughout the years.

He has ghostwritten a book for a client and written hundreds of social media posts. As a fiction writer, Alexander gravitates toward speculative work and has amassed a collection of dozens of short stories. His fiction has been published in Into the Void, Babbling of the Irrational, and anthologies including City & Sea and Missing Providence. His short story "Sands in Time" is featured in the Association of Rhode Island Authors' 2020 anthology, Hope.

He lives with his wife and daughter in Providence, Rhode Island.
