#AtoZ 1981 Songs to Remember - "L" is for "Lady (You Bring Me Up)"

I chose 1981 music as my theme this year. My newest novel The Summer of Princess Diana is set in the summer of 1981, and oh! the music! Let’s take a look back at a pivotal time in the music industry.

Oh. My. This video! "Lady (You Bring Me Up)" was a top ten single for The Commodores, and yes, that is Lionel Richie in the short shorts, when he was still a member (and lead singer) for The Commodores. Not to be confused with the song "Lady" (that Richie wrote for singer Kenny Rogers to record in 1980), this song reached #8 in the Hot 100 and peaked at #5 on the R&B chart. The video alone is a gem.
