Rhode Island Authors Showcase – Featuring M.A. Guglielmo!

The Rhode Island Authors Showcase is back! Each day in November, I’ll be featuring a different RI author. Each post features a giveaway – a book, an anthology, or something else! All you have to do to be eligible for the daily drawing is leave a comment on the blog post. I’ll use a random number generator to pick a winner one week after the blog post (to give you time to catch up).

By commenting on each post, you’re also entered to win our bigger prizes: GRAND PRIZE is a $250 Amazon gift card, BONUS PRIZE is a $100 Amazon gift card, and the CHEER UP YOU WON SOMETHING PRIZE is a $50 Amazon gift card. The big prizes will be chosen, again using a random number generator, on December 7.

First in the series

The wrong jinn at the right time, Zahara’s a force to be reckless with! Zahara, party girl of the paranormal, floats up out of a lamp in Daniel Goldstein’s apartment ready to trick a sorcerer into giving up his soul. But Daniel, whose Moroccan grandmother has reached out from beyond the grave to command him to raise a jinn, wants to do good—by stopping a vengeful fallen angel. The nymphomaniacal, shopping-obsessed Zahara isn’t the otherworldly ally Daniel had in mind. A do-gooder with a dangerous quest isn’t what Zahara’s looking for, either.

Stuck in a magical contract with each other, the two travel to Morocco, where Zahara’s handsome friend Zaid, a jinn who’s converted to Islam, reluctantly joins their quest. As Daniel and Zaid struggle against jinn-hunting mercenaries and their attraction to one other, Zahara is forced to join forces with the fallen angel’s gorgeous but infuriating brother to stop a cataclysmic war between the human and jinn worlds.

Maria has offered a copy of Summoned, the first book in her “From Smokeless Fire” series. (I loved this book and am looking forward to reading the next one!). To be eligible, just answer this question: If you could spend one day with a fictional character, who would it be and why?

  1. Harry Potter! I’d really enjoyed reading all the books along with my son when they were released. I find that JK Rowling created a truly magical (and oftentimes extremely scary) world. I’d love to hang at Hogwarts for the day.

  2. I would like to spend a day with Claire Fraser from Outlander. She is courageous, smart, and resilient. I cannot imagine living her life and would benefit from her insights into how she not only survived but thrived wherever she was.

  3. It would be dreamy to spend a day with Dan Brown’s fictional character Professor Robert Langdon. If only he existed in real life!! I wouldn’t mind Tom Hanks in character. LOL. We would peruse art galleries and talk about symbolism in art and religion. I studied art history in college as a double major with psychology, and concentrated in Italian Renaissance Art. The symbolism in Dan Brown’s books fascinates me.

  6. I love how the characters’ complement each other which seems to be the secret for a perfect relationship with such compelling attraction! I’d love to meet with Gandalph for a day and ask if he believes in the applicability idea of the Trilogy or he knows there was a much deeper hidden symbolic meaning Tolkien was trying to convey.

  7. I’ll go with Elizabeth Bennett. She’s intelligent and loves the outdoors. She doesn’t flirt or play dumb. She’s passionate when it comes to something that matters to her.

  8. There are too many fictional characters, and my brain just gets stumped to who to say.
Your book looks very intriguing! Will keep this one written down.
