Released in January 1981 on Blondie’s fifth album Autoamerican, “Rapture” combines new wave with disco with hip hop, and really symbolizes the changing genres of music in the early 1980s.

  1. Did you know that Debbie Harry was featured on one of the “Wise Guy” arcs? Dead Dog records arc, also guest starring the great Tim Curry and Glenn Frye. The storyline used a ton of music, and this arc was never released on DVD because of the difficulty of getting rights for the music to be ‘rebroadcast.”

By the way, she was pretty good at acting!

Blondie’s main reputation is as New Wave favorite, but this video sums up the early “identity crisis the 80’s”; “of what was…. to what is to come.” Great Blog M!

Phew – surely one of Blondie’s drearier efforts? I don’t recall this one at all… and won’t be seeking it out again!

I have been loving your efforts to remind us of how it was, Martha – now we’re on the downward run for another April! YAM xx
